Welcome
Welcome MS1s!
NSN is proud to introduce our newest members, looking particularly
sharp at their White Coat Ceremony and continuing the tradition of being
the best looking med students in their class Theresa hails from Princeton, NJ and is will support the Penn Med community as external social chair |
Congratulations! You Matched!
A huge congratulations go to NSN's future physicians! We are happy to announce the results of three wonderful NSN members: Kent Grosh (current NSN member) will be receiving his training in general surgery at Western Michigan University. Kent has a particular interest in rural surgery and hopes to translate this training into future practice in East Africa, where he spent most of his childhood. Tomas Andersen (NSN alum and former president) will be remaining local in Philadelphia to train in ophthalmology at Penn. We can't wait to have our clerkship students learn from this stellar person during their "Os" of the surgery clerkship. We also hope he continues to sport his bow ties to all of the student-faculty holiday parties to come. Lastly, Sara Weintraub (NSN alum and literal baller) will also be sticking around in Philadelphia to train in orthopedic surgery at Penn. We can't wait to cheer/heckle her in the student-faculty basketball game next fall as she plays for the faculty team. |
Happy Birthday Formal!
The 2019 winter formal just HAPPENED to coincide with MS2 Aki's birthday, so this year we celebrated a Birthday Formal! (Aki also just HAPPENS to also be very active in MSG, which chose the date for the event. We can all tell who was really behind this... It seems to me that somebody just wanted a school-funded birthday celebration!) Needless to say, NSN rolled into Formal as dashing and well-groomed as ever (only after eating some birthday cake at home first). |
Turkey Day!! I mean... I'm so thankful
Members share a Thanksgiving ("Nu-giving") meal together with significant others, alumni, and close friends. As members of the Nu, we are thankful for our home at 3904 Spruce, the community of housemates who keep us sane, our crazy journey to become physicians, and our equally crazy friends and family who support us through the challenges of med school. |
TEAR IT ALL DOWN! Fall House Day 2018
The Nu members embark on an adventure to tear down the walls that were previously added to enclose the main stairwell. Lots of dust later, we have hallways that are MUCH more open with a ton more lighting from our stairway chandelier and use of the original wooden banisters (which were previously hidden behind the extra walls). A shout-out goes to all alumni who have donated to make these home improvements possible! BEFORE: ![]() ![]() DURING: ![]() ![]() |
Welcome to the Nu, Tim & Levy!!
Our now-MS2s (*sniffle* *wipes tear* they grow up so fast...) Aki, Alexis, and Daniel lead the efforts to welcome our newest members / MS1s of NSN: Levy Rivera and Tim Cox. We also welcome back Kent Grosh (MS4) who previously lived at the Nu during his MS1 year but left to serve as a graduate assistant in the undergrad dorms for 2 years. |
Spring House Day 2017
As the house ponders why we still call this "House Day" as opposed to "House Weekend", our members repaint the kitchen (with surgical precision, if I may add) with the help of alumni who have since moved out. Always a great way to reconnect with alumni in Philly (and a great excuse to order a big round of Honest Tom's burritos). |
